Welcome to Languages Unlimited, your online / in-house language training provider.
We are now taking bookings for upcoming 37.5-hour (30 weeks) online language courses in Brazilian Portuguese for level A1 and for level B1.
All courses will start in September 2023.

You can book a group course for €400.00.
Finally, thank you for connecting your camera when you have a lesson as it is very difficult for trainers to teach a language to “invisible” students. We really appreciate your efforts on this.

This course is addressed to those who have followed a Beginners’ course or who are at level A1.1 and wish to consolidate their level or progress towards level A1.2/A2. It is generally suitable for students who studied Brazilian Portuguese up to the Leaving Cert more than 10 years ago. Students should already be able to introduce themselves, give or understand directions, ask simple questions, handle numbers and go shopping.
Course Objectives
This is a summary of the objectives for this level. A comprehensive list can be found in the Common European Framework of Reference. The objectives describe what a participant should be able to do in the language at the end of a level 2 course.
Sociolinguistic Appropriateness
- To be able to handle very short social exchanges, using everyday polite forms of greeting and address. To be able to make and respond to invitations, apologies etc
Listening Comprehension (LC)
- To be able to understand phrases and expressions related to areas of most immediate priority (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment) provided speech is clearly and slowly articulated.
Reading Comprehension (RC)
- To be able to understand short, simple texts containing the highest frequency vocabulary, including a proportion of shared international vocabulary items.
Spoken Interaction (SI)
- To be able to communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters to do with work and free time.
Spoken Production (SP)
- To be able to give a simple description or presentation of people, living or working conditions, daily routines. Likes/dislikes etc. as a short series of simple phrases and sentences linked into a list.
- To be able to describe his/her family, living conditions, educational background, present or most recent job.
- To be able to give a short, rehearsed, basic presentation on a familiar subject.
- To be able to answer straightforward follow up questions if he/she can as for repetition and if some help with the formulation of his reply is possible.
Written Interaction (WI)
- To be able to write short, simple formulaic notes relating to matters in areas of immediate need.
- To be able to write short, simple notes and messages relating to matters in areas of immediate need.
Written Production (WP)
- To be able to write a series of simple phrases and sentences linked with simple connectors like “and”, “but” and “because”.
Examples of situations covered:
- Booking a plane ticket and flying;
- Buying a train ticket and travelling by train;
- Booking a hotel and checking in;
- Booking a table – Eating and drinking out – Choosing & ordering;
- Renting a car;
- Asking for and understanding directions;
- Going shopping – Paying;
- Going to the bank;
- Complaining and apologising;
- Arranging to meet;
- Telephoning – Leaving / Taking a message.
