Level B1 Language Course – Course Goals

By the end of this course, participants will be able to use the language confidently in everyday and professional situations.

Everyday Social Skills

  • Perform and respond to a wide range of common language functions using polite, neutral expressions.

Listening

  • Understand the main points of clear, standard speech on familiar topics in work, school, leisure, or short narratives.

Reading

  • Read straightforward factual texts related to personal interests or professional fields.

  • Extract relevant information from everyday materials such as letters, brochures, or short official documents.

  • Recognize key points in simple newspaper articles on familiar subjects.

Speaking & Interaction

  • Communicate effectively in a variety of everyday situations, including travel and routine tasks.

  • Initiate, maintain, and close simple conversations on familiar topics or personal interests.

Speaking & Presenting

  • Give clear, structured descriptions of familiar subjects or events.

  • Relate details of unexpected occurrences, such as accidents, and briefly explain opinions, plans, or actions.

  • Deliver prepared presentations on familiar topics, answer follow-up questions, and ask for repetition if needed.

Writing & Interaction

  • Write personal letters and notes to request or convey simple, relevant information.

Giulia started teaching Italian as a Foreign/Second Language in 2010. She holds a Master’s degree in Foreign Languages for International Communication from the University of Trieste (Italy) and a DITALS Certificate for Teaching Italian as a Foreign Language from University of Siena. She is also a certified examiner for CELTA oral exams (University of Perugia). Giulia joined Languages Unlimited in May 2016 and has been since teaching to groups in a corporate environment (elementary level) and individuals on a one-to-one base (upper-intermediate) as well as preparing students for CELI 3 (B2) examinations. Before coming over to Dublin, Giulia has earned extensive experience in teaching Italian as a Second and Foreign language both in Italy and abroad (Croatia and Turkey), in public and private schools and to individuals. Giulia has also been a volunteer teacher of Italian for refugees and immigrants in Italy and has experience in teaching at all levels and age groups and for all purposes. She has also been an assistant teacher of English in a Vocational High School in Turkey.
