  • Understand very slow, carefully spoken Arabic with pauses that make it easier to follow and absorb meaning.

  • Recognise familiar names, words, and short phrases.

  • Read very simple texts, focusing on one phrase at a time, and reread as needed to understand.

Speaking & Interaction

  • Take part in short, simple conversations.

  • Rely on repetition, slower speech, and rephrasing when needed to get your message across.

  • Use simple phrases to talk briefly about people and places.

Salah is an expert in Arabic language, literature and Middle East cross-culture with long experience in teaching, coaching and translating. He received a Master Degree in Intercultural Studies from DCU in 2006. He is currently working on a PhD at Trinity College.
